While body contouring surgery isn't about weight loss, it can be a great way to target certain "trouble spots" when you drop the extra pounds. Quickly calculate your body mass index (BMI) here.
If the badge of honor you receive from childbirth is your offspring, a loose stomach can be equated to the war wound earned from the accomplishment. Fortunately, many women need not endure the excess skin, fat and looser stomach muscles incurred from having a family. Louisiana abdominoplasty procedures, also known as tummy tucks, are an excellent way to make the stomach flat and the muscles tight once again and to hide the scars left behind by a C-section. Women who suffer from obesity also can benefit from the procedure as a way to trim off extra fat.
It's time to say goodbye to your belly "pooch" and tone up your midsection. To get started with your tummy tuck procedure, request a consultation at The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery or call our office at (888) 791-1053. Conveniently located in Shreveport, we serve patients from Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, and offer a complete array of cosmetic surgery and skin care treatments through Jade MediSpa.
Who Needs It
Most women who have abdominoplasty are through having children whether they have young children at home or children who have long since left the nest. The best candidate for the surgery still has good skin elasticity and is generally between the ages of 30 and 55.
Preparing for Your Louisiana Tummy Tuck
In your initial consultation with your surgeon, you will need to decide what you want to accomplish from the procedure and if the most effective procedure will be the full abdominoplasty or the mini-abdominoplasty. You and your physician will have to discuss your goals and what is a reasonable outcome. The Surgery
Depending on your needs, you will either have a full or mini-abdominoplasty. The mini-abdominoplasty procedure removes less than three inches of fat and skin from the stomach, while a full abdominoplasty removes a larger amount of skin and fat tissue below the belly buttong and a new belly button is formed. A mini-abdominoplasty requires a much smaller incision than a full abdominoplasty, where the incision spans across the stomach. In the full abdominoplasty, the muscle wall is tightened, the layer of fat beneath the surface is thinned out and the skin is tightened and sutured into place.
To help remove excess fat, your tummy tuck may also include a Louisiana liposuction procedure. Your surgeon will explain if liposuction is right for you during the consultation.
Results
Our patients are generally very pleased to have overcome the battle of the stomach bulge after abdominoplasty, and feel that some degree of scarring is a welcome tradeoff for a tighter, flatter stomach. They feel more confident in their clothes and can be much less self-conscious following the procedure.
