Dr. Simeon Wall Jr. created SAFELipo to help his revision body contouring patients who had undergone unsatisfactory liposuction procedures elsewhere. Instead of using liposuction to remove fat from discrete trouble spots, our surgeons take a comprehensive approach to body contouring that addresses unwanted fat across the entire midsection, creating a sexier, contoured shape that gets noticed.
A combination of SAFELipo with fat shifting and EVL techniques gives our surgeons a degree of control over the final contours, which is difficult with other liposuction or fat grafting methods. SAFELipo is a 3-step procedure that involves fat separation, aspiration, and equalization:
Separation: The surgeon uses specialized cannulas with power-assisted liposuction (PAL) to separate targeted fat from surrounding attachments in a way that leaves blood vessels and other vital structures intact. The vibrating cannula doesn’t require heat to separate and emulsify fat cells and globules, so there’s no risk of thermal injury.
Aspiration: Next, the surgeon removes the loose fat cells using suction (aspiration), as with most liposuction procedures. Because the fat is loose at this point, the surgeon can use small, specialized cannulas, leaving behind a thin, healthy fat layer with minimal swelling and bruising.
Fat Equalization: This step makes SAFELipo unlike any other body contouring procedure. The surgeon takes meticulous care to smooth out the subcutaneous fat left beneath the skin. This thin, even blanket of localized fat grafts prevents the skin from attaching to the underlying muscle layer. Patients enjoy spectacular long-lasting results with virtually no contour irregularities, the primary complication associated with other liposuction techniques.

Patients usually experience minimal pain after liposuction with SAFELipo and require only a few days of recuperation. Patients describe the discomfort as comparable to muscle soreness after a strenuous workout. You may need a compression garment to encourage smooth contours while healing. Day of surgery: Return home in the care of an adult.
Day 1: Begin taking slow, gentle walks throughout the day.
Days 2 to 3: Ready to return to work or school.
1 week: Feel back to normal.

SAFELipo patients usually see results immediately, although experiences vary. Areas continue to slim down as swelling subsides. As an additional benefit, the skin usually tightens for up to a year after surgery. After the swelling and minimal bruising fade, you can enjoy the contoured, more defined body you’ve been wanting.
Liposuction can be an excellent option for achieving a flatter stomach if your belly bulge is caused by excess fat (not separated abdominal muscles, known as diastasis recti) and you have good skin quality on your abdomen without sagging skin or stretch marks.

In general, patients who have undergone liposuction can expect to return to work after just a couple of days and usually feel back to normal in less than a week. Almost all of our body contouring patients return to their normal workout and exercise routine by 3 weeks after surgery. Most patients report minimal pain from the surgery, and just about everyone reports high satisfaction with their results.

If your concern is primarily fat and your skin has good elasticity, liposuction alone may create a flatter contour.
