Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty (a nose job) reshapes the nose to improve its shape, its proportion, how it functions, or a combination. Whether the goal is refining the bridge, narrowing the tip, correcting asymmetry, or reducing snoring, the procedure is customized to each patient’s facial anatomy and goals.

At The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery in Shreveport, Louisiana, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Simeon Wall Jr., MD, FACS, brings a precision-focused approach to rhinoplasty shaped by his mentorship under Dr. Ronald Gruber — widely regarded as one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world. Dr. Seth Fruge is a Harvard-trained plastic surgeon who received specialized training in primary and revision rhinoplasty during his aesthetic fellowship at The Wall Center.

Patients from across Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and beyond choose The Wall Center for rhinoplasty because of this depth of training and the practice’s commitment to natural, balanced results. Request a consultation online or call our office at  (318) 795-0801 to learn more.

How Do You Know if a Nose Job Is Right for You?

Candidates for rhinoplasty should be in good health and nonsmokers (or willing to quit before and after surgery). Adolescents may be candidates for rhinoplasty once their facial growth is complete, which is typically age 15 to 16 for girls and age 16 to 18 for boys.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

This procedure can provide a variety of cosmetic improvements, including:

  • Straightening a nose that is crooked
  • Resizing and reshaping the nostrils or the bridge
  • Addressing a nose tip that is prominent, downturned, or upturned

Functional Rhinoplasty

Benefits of functional rhinoplasty include:

  • Correcting a deviated septum
  • Improving breathing
  • Repairing damage from trauma

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty corrects the results of a previous procedure. Because revision surgery is more complex than primary (first-time) rhinoplasty surgery, it’s especially important to choose a qualified surgeon.

Why Patients Choose The Wall Center for Rhinoplasty

Credentials, experience, and a reputation for harmonious, natural-looking results bring patients from throughout Louisiana and beyond to our practice for rhinoplasty.

Dr. Simeon Wall Jr. is a Stanford-trained, board-certified plastic surgeon who was mentored by one of the world’s leading rhinoplasty surgeons Dr. Ronald Gruber. Skilled in both open structural and closed rhinoplasty techniques, Dr. Wall Jr. has operated on complex nasal cases alongside Dr. Gruber, giving him experience with the full range of rhinoplasty challenges, from first-time cosmetic refinements to difficult revision cases

Dr. Seth Fruge completed a prestigious plastic surgery residency at Harvard University where he earned awards for being the top-scoring Harvard plastic surgery resident on multiple in-service exams and ranked in the 99th percentile (top 1%) nationally. Dr. Fruge went on to complete an aesthetic fellowship here at The Wall Center that included focused training in complex, revision, and preservation rhinoplasty.

Dr. Wall (Jr.) has a way of talking about your imperfections and changes you may want to make in a very positive and uplifting sort of way.

I didn’t leave my consultation focusing on the negative aspects of my appearance. I left excited about the positive changes I was making. All of the staff is fantastic and friendly. The office is beautiful as well.”

What To Expect at Your Consultation

During your consultation, you and your surgeon will discuss in-depth the results you want to achieve through a nose surgery procedure. By understanding your goals, your plastic surgeon will be able to give you a better indication of what results you can expect. Also during the consultation, you can plan your surgery and review your possible nose job results with a preview from our VECTRA® 3-D imaging system. The VECTRA software creates a 3-D rendering of your face, allowing you to choose different surgical options and ensuring you and your surgeon have the same goals and expectations for your surgery.

How Is Rhinoplasty Performed?

During rhinoplasty, the skin is separated from the bone and cartilage, and the nose is reshaped to achieve the desired look. The skin is then stitched back together. Depending on the intensity of the procedure, rhinoplasty is done under general or local anesthesia. After surgery, a brace is placed over the nose to let it heal into its new shape.

Recovery After Rhinoplasty

It will take about a week after surgery before you will feel comfortable enough to go out in public. Initial swelling can be substantial, but our surgeons can prescribe medication to help ease any pain you may experience. Patients typically are ready to return to work and school in about 2 weeks. You will need to refrain from strenuous exercise for 4 to 6 weeks. Usually, after 2 to 3 months, 80% to 90% of the swelling will be gone, and the long-term results will be more apparent.

Learn what to expect during rhinoplasty recovery week by week.

Rhinoplasty Results

Swelling typically takes about a year to fully resolve, with the tip of the nose often being the last area to refine. Once you achieve your final results, they will last indefinitely.

Rhinoplasty FAQ
How old do you have to be to get a nose job in Louisiana?

The patient’s nose should be fully developed before nose surgery, around age 15 for girls and at least 16 for boys.

What’s the best way to sleep after rhinoplasty?

Sleep with your head elevated for at least the first week to minimize swelling and enhance breathing. Propping yourself up with pillows or sleeping in a recliner can be helpful.

How long does a rhinoplasty take?

Rhinoplasty surgical times vary with the complexity of the case; typically, they are 1.5 to 3 hours for straightforward cases and 4 to 6 for more complicated procedures.

Can you get a nose job while awake?

Yes, our surgeons can perform “awake rhinoplasty” using local anesthesia, often combined with light IV sedation. This technique is typically reserved for minor to moderate adjustments. They use general anesthesia for complex procedures and when the patient prefers it to ensure comfort and optimal surgical conditions.
