Breast Lift
Many women in Louisiana consider a breast lift procedure to restore a more youthful form and shape. It’s no secret that gravity, not to mention pregnancy and weight fluctuations, can take a toll on a woman’s breast appearance. Thankfully, breast lift surgery can step in to reverse a sagging look.
Breast lifts elevate the breasts while creating a more flattering breast contour. To learn more about this procedure, request a consultation at The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery or call our office at (318) 795-0801. Conveniently located in Shreveport, we serve patients from Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, and offer a complete array of cosmetic surgery and skin care treatments through Jade MediSpa.

Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
Who Needs It
Breast lift patients often fall into two main groups: mothers who don’t like the look of their breasts after childbirth and breastfeeding, and women in their 40s or 50s who feel gravity has caused their breasts to sag. A breast lift addresses breast position and shape but will not enhance breast volume – for that, a woman may need to consider breast augmentation using breast implants. Breast lift also will not substantially decrease breast volume, and many women find they need a breast reduction to achieve both their ideal breast size and position.
Preparing for Your Breast Lift
During your consultation, you should discuss your medical history in detail with your surgeon and tell us more about what you hope to accomplish through surgery. In some cases, your surgeon may recommend a short-scar breast lift with implants in order to achieve the results you want.

A breast lift is usually performed under general anesthesia. We use the short scar breast lift technique exclusively (also called the vertical or lollipop lift), where the incision is made around the areola and then straight down to the breast crease. This technique, which requires an especially skilled surgeon, eliminates the scar that runs along the breast crease and provides a more enhanced breast shape over the traditional anchor-shaped incision.
Results
Most women are pleased with the results of their breast lift from The Wall Center. The procedure lifts the breasts higher on the chest, even without the support of a bra, in a very natural-looking way.
- Do you lose breast size with a breast lift?
-
Breast lift surgery removes excess lax skin to elevate the breasts and restore a firmer, more youthful contour. While it does not remove breast tissue, your breasts may end up slightly smaller without the excess skin. Combining implants with breast lift surgery can enhance size and shape without additional surgery or scarring.
- Is breast lift surgery painful?
-
Initial discomfort following a breast lift is mild to moderate. Prescription or over-the-counter medication usually keeps patients comfortable. Expect swelling, bruising, and tightness in the chest area for the first 2 weeks after surgery.
- How long does a breast lift last?
-
The results of a breast lift can last for many years, but factors like age, genetics, lifestyle, and surgical technique all play a role. Our surgeons use specialized techniques that extend your results. Maintaining a stable weight, not becoming pregnant, and closely following your post-op instructions can also help preserve your outcome.
- Will I have noticeable scars from a breast lift?
-
While scarring is unavoidable with any type of surgery, The Wall Center’s surgeons use a short-scar “lollipop” technique that results in about 70% less scarring than traditional methods. (Learn more about breast lift scars.) This approach avoids the long horizontal incision along the breast crease. Most scars will fade from their darker and slightly raised condition to softer, lighter lines within about 6 to 12 months. With our surgeons’ expert technique and proper aftercare, breast lift scars typically end up discreet and inconspicuous once healed.
- Does not wearing a bra cause breast sagging?
-
The most significant factors related to breast sagging include age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and genetics. Talk with your surgeon about the best ways to maintain your breast lift results.
