Louisiana Liposuction
BMI Calculator
While body contouring surgery isn't about weight loss, it can be a great way to target certain "trouble spots" when you drop the extra pounds. Quickly calculate your body mass index (BMI) here.
Fat cells seem to have a mind of their own. They settle wherever they please without any consideration for where you want them to be. Many people we see at our Louisiana liposuction practice are frustrated, saying, "I work out and eat healthy, but I still can't get rid of this problem area."
Whether it's a little extra padding around the waist, thighs, arms or neck, liposuction can permanently remove fat cells from a specific area of your body. It is also a great choice to compliment a Louisiana abdominoplasty procedure. To get started with your liposuction procedure, request a consultation at The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery or call our office at (888) 791-1053. Conveniently located in Shreveport, we serve patients from Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, and offer a complete array of cosmetic surgery and skin care treatments through Jade MediSpa.
Who Needs It
While it may seem that liposuction is optimum for women and men who are overweight, it is actually most effective for people who are relatively fit but wish to reduce certain areas that are resistant to diet or exercise. Those who still have plenty of skin elasticity will see better results than those with thinner, looser skin.
Preparing for Your Louisiana Liposuction

The Surgery
Liposuction in Louisiana at The Wall Center will be performed at the practice's Ambulatory Surgical Center, and depending on the extent of the liposuction, it will be performed either under local or general anesthesia. If it is performed under local anesthesia, you may request a sedative that will help keep you drowsy and insensitive to pain during the procedure.
The incisions that are made to remove fat are usually no more than a quarter of an inch and are made in inconspicuous areas on the body. In liposuction, a cannula, or long tube, is inserted into each incision and the fat cells are broken up. The fat is then removed through the cannula.
Although our plastic surgeons are experienced in performing a variety of liposuction techniques for Louisiana patients, such as ultrasonic liposuction (UAL) and tumescent liposuction, they prefer to use RealLipo™. Developed by Dr. Simeon Wall, Jr., this revolutionary liposuction technique uses specially designed cannulas, with or without power-assisted liposuction (PAL), to gently remove unwanted fat. RealLipo does not involve heat-generating lasers or ultrasonic devices that often damage skin and surrounding tissues and produce uneven results. We have found that RealLipo not only produces more dramatic and smoother results than traditional tumescent, UAL, or laser liposuction, it also results in little to no bruising and minimal downtime.
Although some incisions from liposuction may take several months to fully heal and lighten, you should feel much more like yourself after only a few days. Bruising and swelling usually will subside within 2 weeks.
Results
Depending on how much fat is removed, results from liposuction are often seen immediately. Once swelling and bruising have subsided, improvement will become even more apparent. To maintain your new look, it is important to keep your weight constant. Although fat cells have been removed, the remaining fat cells will expand as weight increases. Therefore, patients are encouraged to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly to achieve their ideal weight both before and after surgery, and allow the liposuction to enhance the body's shape.
