Fat cells seem to have a mind of their own. They settle wherever they please without any consideration for where you want them to be. Many people we see considering liposuction in Louisiana are frustrated, saying, "I work out and eat healthy, but I still can't get rid of this problem area."
Whether it's a little extra padding around the waist, thighs, arms or neck, liposuction can permanently remove fat cells from a specific area of your body. Take advantage of the new, effective technique created by Dr. Simeon Wall, Jr.: SAFELipo®. This unique liposuction process provides smooth, even, and dramatic results, usually with little to no bruising. In contrast to traditional liposuction, SAFELipo can produce significant skin retraction in most patients.
To get started with your liposuction procedure, request a consultation at The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery or call our office at (888) 791-1053. While body contouring surgery isn't about weight loss, it can be a great way to target certain "trouble spots" when you drop the extra pounds. Quickly calculate your body mass index (BMI) here.
Who Needs It
While it may seem that liposuction in Louisiana is optimum for women and men who are overweight, it is actually most effective for people who are relatively fit but wish to reduce certain areas that are resistant to diet or exercise. Those who still have plenty of skin elasticity will see better results than those with thinner, looser skin. Liposuction can help accentuate your curves if you're having a breast enlargement or breast lift, and can complement other body procedures like a tummy tuck in Louisiana.
Preparing for Liposuction Surgery
In your initial consultation, you and your plastic surgeon will discuss your overall health and what you want to achieve through your liposuction in Louisiana. Liposuction in Shreveport, Louisiana at The Wall Center will be performed at the practice's Ambulatory Surgical Center, and depending on the extent of the liposuction, it will be performed either under local or general anesthesia. If it is performed under local anesthesia, you may request a sedative that will help keep you drowsy and insensitive to pain during the procedure.
The incisions that are made to remove fat are usually no more than a quarter of an inch and are made in inconspicuous areas on the body. In SAFELipo, a special motorized cannula, or long tube, is inserted into each incision and the fat cells are separated from their attachments. The fat is then removed through a different, smaller cannula. The final step is performed with another specialized cannula that equalizes the remaining fat beneath the skin, for a smooth, even, and consistent result.
Although our plastic surgeons are experienced in performing a variety of liposuction techniques for Louisiana patients, such as standard and ultrasonic liposuction (UAL), they use Power-assisted SAFELipo due to its many advantages. Developed by Dr. Simeon Wall, Jr., this revolutionary liposuction technique can dramatically change body shape more effectively than other forms of liposuction, safely and with minimal risk of contour deformities or other problems. Bruising is rare, and results from SAFELipo are seen immediately, with further improvement as most swelling subsides over several weeks. Although the tiny incisions from liposuction can take several weeks to months to fully heal and lighten, you should feel much more like yourself after only a few days. All swelling is resolved within the first few months, but patients can expect skin tightening to continue to improve for up to a year after surgery.
Regardless of how much fat is removed, results from SAFELipo are seen immediately. Once swelling has subsided, improvement will become even more apparent. To maintain your new look, it is important to keep your weight constant. Although fat cells have been removed permanently, the remaining fat cells have the ability to expand if your weight increases. Therefore, patients are encouraged to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly to achieve and maintain their ideal weight both before and after liposuction, to allow their body contouring procedure to enhance the body's shape forever.
