Jeuveau and BOTOX Cosmetic are injectable neuromodulators that temporarily relax targeted facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles. Both are FDA approved for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, but BOTOX Cosmetic has additional FDA-approved aesthetic uses. The products also differ in their formulations and other characteristics that may influence which treatment your injector recommends.

How Is Jeuveau Different From BOTOX?
Jeuveau and BOTOX Cosmetic are both botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators that temporarily reduce the muscle activity responsible for dynamic wrinkles. Key differences include:
- Formulation: Jeuveau and BOTOX Cosmetic contain different formulations of botulinum toxin type A and are made by different manufacturers.
- FDA-approved uses: Jeuveau is FDA approved specifically for moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines or “11s” between the eyebrows), while BOTOX Cosmetic is approved for several cosmetic treatment areas.
- Aesthetic focus: Jeuveau was developed specifically for aesthetic use, while BOTOX products also have numerous therapeutic applications.
- Manufacturing: Jeuveau is produced using Evolus’ proprietary Hi-Pure™ manufacturing process.
These differences don’t necessarily make one treatment better than the other. Your injector can recommend a neuromodulator based on the areas you want to treat, your previous treatment experience and response, and your aesthetic goals.
How Does Jeuveau Work?
Jeuveau temporarily blocks the nerve signals that cause targeted facial muscles to contract. As those muscles relax, the dynamic lines created by repeated expressions such as frowning become less noticeable. The effect is temporary, so muscle activity gradually returns over time.
Jeuveau treatment involves a series of small injections into the targeted muscles. For FDA-approved treatment of glabellar lines, injections are placed in specific muscles between and above the eyebrows.
How Long Does Jeuveau Last?
Jeuveau results are temporary and gradually diminish as muscle activity returns. Clinical studies have shown that some patients continue to have visible improvement in frown lines at 5 months, although individual results vary. Periodic maintenance treatments are needed to maintain the effect.
The duration of your results can depend on factors such as your individual response to treatment and treatment history. Your injector can recommend an appropriate schedule based on how you respond to Jeuveau.
What Can Jeuveau Treat?
The FDA approved Jeuveau to temporarily improve moderate to severe glabellar lines—the vertical “11s” that develop between the eyebrows when you frown.
Qualified injectors may also use neuromodulators in other facial areas when clinically appropriate. When Jeuveau is used for an area that is not included in its FDA-approved indication, this is considered off-label treatment. Your injector can determine whether Jeuveau or another neuromodulator is appropriate for the area you want to address.
What About Dysport® and DAXXIFY®?
Jade MediSpa also offers Dysport and DAXXIFY, giving patients additional neuromodulator options. While these treatments work similarly, their formulations and treatment characteristics differ. DAXXIFY features a peptide-based formulation and may provide longer-lasting results for some patients.
