How Does Laser Liposuction Work?
Laser-assisted liposuction uses a fiber that delivers laser energy beneath the skin. The thermal energy is used to disrupt fat and may also produce tissue contraction. As with other surgical procedures, outcomes and risks depend on the technology used, treatment parameters, patient anatomy, and the surgeon’s technique and experience.
How Does SAFELipo Work?
SAFELipo is a power-assisted liposuction technique developed by Dr. Simeon Wall Jr. that uses a 3-step process: separation, aspiration, and fat equalization. During fat separation, power-assisted cannula movement helps loosen targeted fat from the surrounding tissue. During aspiration, the separated fat is removed. Finally, fat equalization redistributes the remaining superficial fat layer to help smooth and refine the treated area.
Unlike laser-assisted liposuction and other thermal technologies, SAFELipo does not use heat to disrupt fat. As such, it does not carry the risk of thermal burns specifically associated with heat-generating liposuction technologies. The Wall Center’s Experience With Laser Liposuction Complications
Over the years, The Wall Center has treated patients seeking revision after experiencing contour irregularities and other complications following laser-assisted liposuction performed elsewhere. In some cases, the original procedures were performed by physicians who were not board-certified plastic surgeons.
